At the risk of sounding as if I want to drum up business for packaging companies in a down economy -- the answer is yes!

Many believe the best time to advance your product is in a soft economy because the impulse buy may be more important now than when times are good. With marketing budgets being cut, the package must be the tool used to get from the shelf to the cupboard.

Packaging innovations come in many flavors. The most basic way to "freshen" a product is with a graphic change. More dramatic makeovers can entail changing the entire delivery of a product. This can include new substrates as well as new structures.
