Can one scan meet all of my needs?

Question:
Can one scan meet all of my needs?

Answer:
Scan-Once-Output-Many (SOOM) can be defined as "the ability to scan and process an image once so that it can be reproduced through a variety of output devices."

As scanning moves upstream in the production process, it is less likely that the specific, final use of an image is known. And it is increasingly likely that the image will be used for many different output applications.
